SMD Splicing Tool

SMD Splicing Tool

The Sierra Universal SMD Splicing Tool works on all sizes of carrier tape, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 44, and 56 millimeters. It works on both paper and plastic carrier tape. It has an adjustment to be able to increase or decrease the tension on the splice shim. It will open by itself. We'll place a splice shim in the tool with the teeth up. Once you have that in there, we will put the piece that is going to be spliced to, which would be the leader. You have one hold-down unit it on one side and one on the other to always have one hand free. You will be putting the other one in there. Then we will just crimp the tool and release and your splice will then be a complete on the top side. And this will allow you to be able to put a connector to connect the cover tapes on the top. And the splice is complete on the bottom.

I will get a cover tape connector, which is used to be able to connect the cover tapes on the top. The cover tape connectors are size specific, so you have to have one for 8, one for 12, one for 16, one for 24 millimeter specific and just align the cover tape connector on there. And your splice is complete, ready to go through the machine. Gives you an additional 18 inches of leader material to be able to start in your feeder. It makes it much easier to splice without having to peel any components back and lose any waste at all.
