Conformal coatings are specialty film forming products that protect circuit boards and other electric components from adverse environmental conditions. These coatings conform to the irregular landscape of the circuit board providing dielectric resistance as well as operational integrity.
In this video will talk about the different types of conformal coatings Chemtronics offers, what they do, how to apply them to circuit boards and finally how the different conformal coatings compare to each other physically.
Chemtronics provides a variety of conformal coatings these include acrylic, silicone, urethane, modified acrylic and the urethane/acrylic hybrids. Each coating has its unique characteristics and is made for different types of applications.
KON FORM AR is an acrylic based conformal coating designed to provide insulation against high voltage arcing and Corona shorts. This extremely effective acrylic conformal coating provides a hard durable protective barrier against humidity, salt, corrosive vapors and fungus for printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies.
KON FORM ULTRA acrylic conformal coating is formulated provide maximum process throughput for fast drying while also maximizing insulation protection. The product dries to the touch within 10 minutes allowing for fast application in handling. This extremely effective acrylic conformal coating provides a hard durable protective barrier against humidity, salt, corrosive vapors, and fungus for printed circuit board assemblies.
KON FORM SR provides maximum flexibility and protection in extreme temperatures. This transparent coating provides ideal protection for both rigid and flexible printed circuit boards. Cured coatings are hydrolytically stable and retain their physical electrical properties after high temperatures & humidity exposure. KON FORM SR will not stress delicate circuit components.
KON FORM HIGH SR VISCOCITY offers maximum coverage where good flexibility is required but where extreme temperatures can be encountered. This transparent coating provides ideal protection for both rigid and flexible circuit boards. Cured coatings are hydrolytically stable and retain their physical properties after high temperature and humidity exposure. This is the same coating material as KON FORM SR but just thicker. KON FORM SR HIGH VISCOCITY will not stress delicate circuit component.
KON FORM FLEX COAT is designed for applications were flexibility and protection are paramount. This material is as flexible as an RTV silicone, but without silicone. Providing a soft, rubbery protective coating - this material will coat evenly and provide a flexible and durable protective barrier for printed circuit boards, while also providing superior vibrational protection.
KON FORM UR-A is a water based coating designed to deliver outstanding conformal coating protection, using a water based carrier. It is engineered for applications where durability and Environmental Protection against moisture & airborne contaminants are required while minimizing the use and impact of VOC's. KON FORM UR-A provides an excellent protective barrier against humidity, salt, corrosive vapors and fungus. KON FORM UR-A’s film is durable, with good solvent resistance. It is difficult to remove because of its urethane properties.
