Today I'm going to take you through the process of cleaning flux residues from a printed circuit board with the Chemtronics FluxOff BrushClean system.
In this demonstration I'll be using the fluxOff rosin flux remover. Right out of the box you can spray without any attachment to flush or rinse a larger area.
With the straw attachment you can get in tight areas, even under low stand off components. But what about if there are areas in the board where you have to worry about cross contamination or solvent damaging components or coatings? The brush clean system allows you to clean select areas without that worry and minimize your solvent usage.
First of course take proper ESD precautions, next remove the safety tab from the top of the sprayer and attach the brush.
The trick is to spray a small amount of solvent on a wipe, in this case its a Coventry economy wipe and agitate around the areas to be cleaned we’ll use special effects so you can see what's under the wipe.
Scrub over all the leads and mov to a clean area wipe and spray again to avoid re-contamination. For the backside of a through hole board you might consider a cotton twill or polyester wipe to avoid tearing and creating particulates.
