That is, how many times a sample is reproduced on the monitor. In this article, we will explain how magnification levels are calculated plus provide an overview of the magnification levels for each of of the TAGARNO digital microscopes.
WHAT DETERMINES MAGNIFICATION LEVELS
To calculate magnification levels, you need to know:
Size of the monitor you are using
Minimum and maximum field of view (in X direction) on that monitor
The monitor is important because the size of the monitor will determine how far you can zoom in and out. That is, you can reach lower AND higher magnification on a 27” monitor than a 24” monitor.
Example:
A TAGARNO FHD Prestige with a +10 lens (achromatic) can magnify an object 129 times on a 24” monitor. But it can magnify 145 times on 27” monitor and 116 times on a 22” monitor.
To understand why that is, let’s look at the math.

How to calculate magnification levelsThe formula is quite simple: Just divide the width of the monitor with the minimum FOV to find the lowest possible magnification level. Then, divide the width of the monitor with the maximum FOV to find the highest possible magnification level.
E.g: You have a TAGARNO PRESTIGE with a +10 lens (achromatic) and a 24'' monitor.
To find the lowest possible magnification level, you say 531 mm (width of monitor) divided by 125.1 (minimum FOV), which equals to approximately 4.2x. To find the highest possible magnification level, you divide 531 mm (width of monitor) by 4.1 (maximum FOV), which equals to approximately 129x.
This means, your object can be magnified between 4.2 and 129 times when using the FHD Prestige with a +10 lens (achromatic) on a 24'' monitor.
